Damaged Braces Need to Be Addressed as Soon as Possible
The traditional braces provided by Shenandoah Valley Orthodontics’s orthodontist represent a functional system capable or realigning your teeth. This can provide you with a better functioning mouth and a more attractive smile. The realignment process relies on a series of regularly scheduled adjustments with one of our orthodontists, Drs. Damon DeArment, Daniel Lill, or Ashley Larson.
Each of these appointments will apply tension your braces components to gradually alter the periodontal ligaments that anchor your teeth in your gums. Over time this will bring your teeth into their ideal position.
If a braces component is damaged or loosened you need to have it examined as soon as possible. The longer you delay the more likely you are to experience complications that could extend the duration of the realignment process.
You should never attempt to repair the damaged component on your own. This could cause further complications and potentially harm your mouth.
If you have a sharp point in your mouth that threatens to harm your cheek or gums, you can try to secure it inside a piece of orthodontic wax. If you don’t have any with you an improvised piece of pencil eraser might suffice.
If you are in the Winchester, Virginia, are and you have suffered damage to your braces, you should call 540-667-9662 to have it examined and repaired at Shenandoah Valley Orthodontics.
